Out of Line is my moms clothing line. She is so amazing and her line is full of great basic pieces that every woman should have. Whenever I wear any of my Out of Line pieces I just feel good. Her clothes make me feel thin, put together, stylish and happy.  I am so incredibly proud of her and I love telling people that my mom has her own successful clothing business. She’s such an inspiration. After a few failed attempts at college she took time for herself and she met my dad. After I was born and my parents had divorced mom started a baby clothing bussiness which eventually transitioned her into women’s clothing. Five years ago we moved from Eugene to Seattle and she attended The New York Fashion Academy in Ballard. Now she is running an incredibly successful business and she did it all by herself.  Amazing.  Here are some new photos of her spring 2011 mini collection.

My favorites are the Key Influence Dress and the Native Gray Curdoroy Skirt. They can both be found on the Out of Line Etsy page and you can keep up with Beki on her Blog. P.S. I drew the logo back when I was a youngin’.

My big ticket Christmas present this year was my brand spankin new Droid, from Verizon. I love it and I am unfortunately now one of those annoying people that spends way too much time on their phone. Whenever you have extra waiting time you can just whip it out of your pocket and check anything out. I can check my email, facebook, and tumblr, which is just too great. My favorite thing is probably the Dictionary.com app. I love being able to look up the meaning of any word at any time. Totally nerdy, I know.

Plus there are tons of great apps and games. The Droid is also a lot faster than the iPhone. I have this on good authority from a few people. My phone also takes some great pictures, here is one of my cat. I highly recommend this phone. It has definitely improved my life. Thanks mom!

The greatest song. Just listen to the lyrics. They are hilarious. This version also features Tammy Wynette but the original is a solo Tom T. Hall.

Harry Potter speaks to my soul. I love those books and movies so much. After all these moviee, I feel like I really know Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I’m so emotionally involved and I love that. It’w wonderful, wildly creative spells and all the different magical world things. Bananas. I just want to jump into the book and go to Hogwarts. They are just so great.

Dumbledore is my favorite. He is just one of those great old people that you wish you knew. Plus his name is Albus Wulfic Percival BRIAN Dumbledore. How could that not make you smile?

All my friends and I are total Harry Potter freaks. We are obcessed. Somehow all the time our conversations seem to include something from or about Harry Potter. It’s great. It’s good to know that you arn’t alone in you infatuation.

I just found a great quote.

“I used to be self conscious about my height, but then I thought, fuck that, I’m Harry Potter.”

-Daniel Radcliffe

This just makes me love Harry Potter even more.

This is an great clip of the Harry Potter Cast.

Dumbledore’s Army. Yes.

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. I can’t wait to see the movie and this is a hilarious spoof of the commercial. I really couldn’t stop laughing.

This is the latest Taylor Swift album and it is pure gold. I love all the songs and can’t seem to stop listening to the them. My favorites are probably Mean, Innocent and Sparks fly. This is what is something Taylor wrote and posted on her excellent website taylorswift.com as an explanation to her new album. I just love her inspiration.

‘Speak now or forever hold your peace,’ the words said by preachers at the end of wedding ceremonies all over the world, right before the vows.  It’s a last chance for protest, a moment that makes everyone’s heart race, and a moment I’ve always been strangely fascinated by. So many fantasize about bursting into a church, saying what they’d kept inside for years like in the movies. In real life, it rarely happens.

Real life is a funny thing, you know. In real life, saying the right thing at the right moment is beyond crucial. So crucial, in fact, that most of us start to hesitate, for fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. But lately what I’ve begun to fear more than that is letting the moment pass without saying anything.

I think most of us fear reaching the end of our life, and looking back regretting the moments we didn’t speak up. When we didn’t say ‘I love you.’ When we should’ve said ‘I’m sorry.’ When we didn’t stand up for ourselves or someone who needed help.

These songs are made up of words I didn’t say when the moment was right in front of me. These songs are open letters. Each is written with a specific person in mind, telling them what I meant to tell them in person. To the beautiful boy whose heart I broke in December. To my first love who I never thought would be my first heartbreak. To my band. To a mean man I used to be afraid of. To someone who made my world very dark for a while. To a girl who stole something of mine. To someone I forgive for what he said in front of the whole world.

Mine is probably the most popular song on the album. I like the music video but it is really bizarre to see a pregnant Taylor Swift.

This summer I went on an incredible epic 16 day roadtrip with my mom, her boyfriend Rusty, my cousin Tatiana and our minivan “La Fiesta.” We traveled through Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada, stopping in San Fran, Huntington Beach, Sedona, Las Vegas and many more dynamite places. We spent lots of time in the sun and got just a little too crispy at times.  I have so many great memories. Playing punch-bug until our arms were covered in bruises. Passing through scary ghost towns in Neveda that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and seem to be the perfect setting for a horror film. Getting attacked by a pleathera of wild animals. Starring up at glittering stars in the desert after a day of swimming.

We  got away. Just disappeared into our trip for two weeks. The only people we talked to was each other and the strange peope along the way. We were totally invested in the here and now. That was all that mattered. It was such a free feeling and I miss it, but we all have to come back to reality, eventually.

San Fran was really cool and really similar to our hometown of Seattle. A foggy big city with lots of culture. We went to Chinatown and the SFMOMA which were both simply amazing. They have a Chinatown in Seattle but it is a little baby compared to the San Francisco version. All the townhouses are so cute! San Fran was great. Someday I want to live there.

Huntington surprised me so much. It’s right near LA so I figured it would be like that but it’s this really chill cute surf town. The waves were fan-fricken-tastic! I could spend hours at that beach. There was this really good burrito shack right on the beach that made the most amazing burrito I think I’ve ever had. To make it even better there were tons of cute shops with great surfer chic clothes to fill that fashion craving that’s in the back of every girls mind.

Sedona was breahtaking. I think that Sedona is the most beautiful place that I have even visited. A sleepy little town full of pink buildings (there is a certain palette people have to pick from, its a law!) that fit in astonishingly well with the grand mountain cliffs that surround the town. There are great campsites and way too many perfect swimming holes and cliff jumping. The first night there we realized while playing Apples to Apples that there were baby skunks everywhere. Nobody got sprayed but we were fully terrified the whole time. The next day we got hit by a huge crazy monsoon and our tents were soaked. We decided to retreat to a hotel at that point. One weird thing about Sedona though, was that everything closed so early. Don’t go to Sedona if you want some night life fun.

Las Vegas was crazy. That’s the only way to say it. Big. Bright. And totally horrifying at the same time. It was fun but also kind of scary too. It is so weird to be in a place where it is 100 degrees until midnight. The shopping was unbelieveable though.

We did so much driving and it was so fun to spend so much time with my family. I wouldn’t say it didn’t get tiring and just wanted to scream sometimes but it was an amazing experience. I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any different. I’m going to remember that trip for the rest of my life as one of best times of my life. I highly recommend roadtrips. They are so wonderful.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.

This is a picture of me on the day we camped in the Redwoods. It was so freezing that I was wearing pretty much everything in my suitcase. Good times.

I love quotes. In those few words they have the power to make your heart swell, a light bulb appear above your head, or a tear to slide down your cheek. My love for quotes is definitely intensified by my nerdiness. Lots of my favorite quotes revolve around my favorite books, movies, or celebrities. For example Harry Potter, Twilight, and Marilyn Monroe. In my constant search for quotes I came across a great website that we probably have all visited at least once, but has recently added a new feature. Dictionary.com has just added a great Quote page! You can search by author or subject. It’s great. Check it out and find some inspiring quotes and brighten your day!

Last week on a long awaited and anticipated trip to one of my favorite stores, Target, I purchased a vivid pink hair straightener. I was literally jumping up and down I was so excited. That is what happens when you spend forever saving up enough money to buy something. This something cost about 100 buckeroonies. I can definitely say it was worth it.

I have truly unruly, thick and slightly curly hair. In other words, my hair frequently looks like a mess. But thanks to my new CHI everything is now good in the hood. My hair is sleek and shiny. Simply wonderful. I’m in love. If you are looking for straight amazing hair I would definitely recommend any CHI straighteners.

The other day my dad and I stumbled across a hilarious book at Urban Outfitters called Awkward Family Photos. It is one of the funniest things I have seen in a really long time. Dad and I went to lunch after to look at it and were laughing so hard that tears began to fall. I think everyone in the resturant probably thought we were going crazy. Anywho. They started just like The Selby in a blog. Here is the link. Awkward Family Photos. What makes it even more great is that all the photos have great captions. I have no idea how they got all the photos but they are just too funny. Check it out if you need a good laugh.
